Spanish LaLiga champions Real Madrid have slammed an incredible €1billion (₦1.7 trillion) price tag on Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde.
Valverde has been a mainstay in Real Madrid’s midfield over the last three years. In fact, despite coach Xabi Alonso’s constant tinkering since taking over, Valverde has maintained his place as a regular for Los Merengues.

This season, he has featured in 15 games, with two goals and three assists to his name.
The 27-year-old Uruguayan’s performances have not gone unnoticed. Some top European clubs and Saudi Arabian clubs have expressed their interest in his services.

However, it appears that Real Madrid are unwilling to let Valverde leave. This is as Transfer News Live reports that the club president Florentino Perez has warned suitors that they will only listen to offers around €1 billion for Valverde.
This is far higher than his valuation of €130 million on Transfermarkt. However, Real Madrid are very stubborn customers, so they can afford to take any stance they wish, especially as Valverde still has about four years on his contract.
Why Have Real Madrid Taken This Stance On Federico Valverde?
Real Madrid’s decision is not a new thing in Spanish football. Since Barcelona lost Neymar to PSG in 2017, Spanish clubs have been using high release clauses to discourage clubs from looking at their players.
Realistically, no one would pay €1 billion for Federico Valverde, so that will keep suitors at bay.
The former Penarol man is happy at Real Madrid, and will be hoping that he continues to shine for the club.
