Former Manchester United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first footballer to be valued at over $1 billion, Sportspremi reports.

Over the years, there have always been comparisons between Portuguese legend Ronaldo and Argentine maestro Lionel Messi.

However, those arguments have reduced significantly since both of them left Europe.

But one thing that has always been clear is Ronaldo’s commercial viability, especially since he joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. This has seen him get deals running into hundreds of millions.

Now, new reports from Bloomberg say that Ronaldo has reached a milestone. Following his recent contract renewal at Al Nassr, which will see him earn a whooping $400 million yearly, Bloomberg now report that Ronaldo has reached a valuation of $1.4 billion.

This is significantly higher than Messi’s valuation, which is around €600 million.

How Has Cristiano Ronaldo Gotten So Rich?

As if stands, Cristiano Ronaldo is the richest footballer alive. Aside from his massive take home pay and bonuses at Al Nassr, the 40-year-old has investments in many places.

He has a chain of hotels, gyms, and even investments in the media. He also has a fashion line that includes underwear, shoes, perfumes, and others.

Ronaldo also has sponsorship deals with Armani, Nike and many other top brands around the world.
