Italian Serie A outfit Atalanta have confirmed the appointment of Raffaele Palladino as the new manager of the club until June 2027, SportPremi reports.

Palladino, 41, will succeed Ivan Juric who was dismissed on Monday following a poor start to the 2025-26 campaign.

Juric was appointed in the summer as a successor to Europa-winning manager Gian Piero Giasperini who left the club at the end of his contract to join AS Roma.

La Dea has endured a poor start to the new season and have found themselves 11 points behind leaders Inter Milan and nine behind fourth-placed Napoli after just 11 matches.

The club won only two of their league games and recorded seven draws, while the 3-0 defeat to Sassuolo on Sunday was their second league defeat of the season.

The former Southampton manager was also guilty of falling out with some key members of the squad, including a public row with Ademola Lookman in the UEFA Champions League win over Olympique Marseille.

Palladino joins Atalanta

Palladino previously managed Fiorentina and helped the club to qualification for the UEFA Conference League, before agreeing to leave the club at the end of the summer.

In a statement released on social media, Atalanta confirmed the appointment of the 41-year-old.

“Atalanta BC is pleased to announce that the role of technical director of the First Team has been entrusted to Raffaele Palladino. Palladino has signed a contract with the Nerazzurri until June 30, 2027.

“He will be followed at the Nerazzurri by Stefano Citterio (assistant coach), Federico Peluso (technical assistant), Fabio Corabi (athletic trainer), Nicola Riva (assistant athletic trainer), Andrea Ramponi (match analyst) and Mattia Casella (match analyst)”, Atalanta revealed.

What to expect from Palladino?

The former Fiorentina manager has been appointed after Ivan Juric’s dismissal, following a dismal start to the season.

Atalanta are winless in their last six games in all competitions and have started poorly in both their league and European campaign.

The 41-year-old is tasked with reviving the club’s season and ensuring they finish in an European spot at the end of the season.

Palladino will also need to keep key players happy, particularly Ademola Lookman, who has been linked with an exit from the club.

La Dea will be back in action after the international break when they visit the Diego Maradona Stadium to face champions Napoli.
