The Nigerian forward last goal for the club came in 4-1 win over Barcelona in October and had been without a league goal in his previous seven outings.

It took only four minutes for the 25-year-old to break the duck, scoring the opener which set his side on the path to a convincing win.

Adams is expected to join up with his Nigerian teammates later today in preparation for the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.

Adams end goal drought, Ejuke also on target

Sevilla welcomed Real Oviedo to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Sunday, hoping to put an end to their poor run of form in the league.

Super Eagles forward Akor Adams celebrated his inclusion in Eric Chelle’s 28-man squad to represent Nigeria by netting the opener, showing pace and composure to put his side ahead.

The 25-year-old was involved in the second goal as his low cross took a deflection, before Djibril Sow fired into the bottom corner for a 2-0 win.

Adams then produced a brilliant flick for Batista Mendy, who showed great skill before netting Sevilla’s third in the second half.

Chidera Ejuke then added a fourth late in the game, showing great play to go past several defenders before his shot flew into the net past the goalkeeper.

Sevilla claimed maximum points with the big win, and have moved up to ninth on the La Liga standings, while Real Oviedo remain in 19th place after a poor start to the season.

Adams hails goalscoring return

Nigerian striker Akor Adams geared up for his first appearance at the African Cup of Nations with an inspiring display for Sevilla against Real Oviedo.

He scored the opener and played a part in the second and third goals, potentially playing himself into contention to start for the Super Eagles at the tournament.

Speaking after the win, the 25-year-old was excited to end his goal drought after several matches.

“I wouldn’t say that. The best is yet to come. The best is yet to come. The best thing is the three points, which we also deserved against Valencia”, Adams revealed.

“It’s been a great match for me, for the team and for the fans. It’s been a great day for everyone.

“I have the privilege of having been selected by Nigeria. It’s an opportunity you can’t say no to.”

Adams and Ejuke will fly to Cairo on Monday, where they are expected to join the rest of the Super Eagles team in preparation for the African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
