Match Preview

Despite the controversy surrounding the team in the buildup to the tournament, head coach David Pagou has led Cameroon to an impressive showing so far in Morocco, with a clash next against the home nation.

They remain the second most successful country in African history with five triumphs and will be eyeing progress to the next round in search of a sixth African title.

The Indomitable Lions overcame South Africa in the Round of 16 in a hard-fought encounter, triumphing 2–1 as they overcame the disappointment of losing at the same stage of Nigeria two years ago in Ivory Coast.

They also enjoyed an impressive group stage campaign, where they were narrowly pipped to top spot by the Elephants despite winning two of their three group matches.

Morocco, on the other hand, are hoping to win the AFCON title on home soil and claim a first win since 1976. The Atlas Lions are buoyed by home support and dominated Tanzania in their Round of 16 clash although it ended in a 1-0 result.

The form of Brahim Diaz also makes them a force to reckon with, as the Real Madrid star currently leads the Golden boot race with four goals having scored in every of their matches so far.

The host nations have enjoyed a solid tournament performance so far, topping Group A after winning two of their three matches, only failing to win in a 1-1 draw against Mali.
