Ademola Lookman provided the assist for Julian Alvarez’s firs half strike as Atletico Madrid suffered a 3-2 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash on Wednesday.

The Spanish side went into the clash with a 5-2 lead from last week’s first leg and advanced on a 7-5 aggregate result from the tie despite the defeat.
Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons twice gave Tottenham the lead, while Atletico Madrid fought back in both halves with goals from Julian Alvarez and David Hancko.
However, Simon scored a late penalty to hand Spurs a first win under Igor Tudor and end their poor run of form, although they have now crashed out of the competition.
Lookman grabs another assist as Atletico book Champions League spot
Atletico held a three-goal lead from the first leg and were hoping to avoid a shock result against a struggling Tottenham side.
Lookman thought he had scored the opener early in the clash after getting on the end of a cross from Giuliano Simeone, but his goal was ruled out for offside by the assistant referee.

Kolo Muani then put Spurs ahead in the 30th minute, heading home from a great delivery from Mathys Tel to spark an unlikely comeback.
Tel was denied by the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, before Vicario denied a deflected effort from Simeone as Tottenham took the lead into the break.
Atletico were level two minutes after the restart following a devastating counter attack as Lookman played in Alvarez, who fired in an unstoppable shot.
Simons then scored a stunning effort from outside the area to put Tottenham back in the lead in the 52nd minute.
Lookman was substituted in the 64th minute of the clash after picking up a caution few minutes earlier, with Alexander Sorloth coming on in his place.
The visitors equalized for a second time in the game as Hancko headed home a corner kick from Alvarez.
Simons was brought down by Jose Maria Gimenez inside the area with full time approaching and the Netherlands international converted from 12 yards to seal a 3-2 win for his side.
