Nigeria forward Cyriel Dessers has joined Italian Serie A newly promoted side Cremonese on a permanent deal from KRC Genk.
Dessers left KRC Genk for the Italian Cremonese, the club was promoted to Serie A last season. The Belgian club reportedly received 6.5 million euros in exchange for the 27-year-old striker.
Dessers was the top scorer in the Europa Conference League last season, scoring 10 goals for runners-up Feyenoord, who lost to Roma in the final.
Dessers joins Osimhen and other Nigerian players in the Italian top flight after joining Cremonese from Belgian side KRC Genk in a deal worth around 6.5 million euros.
Dessers scored 20 goals in 41 games on loan with Feyenoord in the Dutch league last season; sadly, he was unable to secure a permanent move and returned to Genk; he appeared three times and scored three goals before joining Cremonese.
The three-time Super Eagles international has indicated several times that he would love to have a “dream transfer” to a top European club. With the switch to Cremonese, Dessers now has his desired transfer.
“It was a childhood dream to play for KRC Genk. That has happened. Another dream was to play in a top European competition. That will now happen. I want to thank you for the support and love I have received. Genk’s biggest supporter,” says Dessers in a farewell video of the Belgian club.”
Nigeria forward Dessers migh make his debut for Cremonese on Sunday. In the first round of the Serie A, the club will visit Fiorentina.
