That triggered a string a negative responses from Lookman, as he unfollowed the club on social media and deleted all posts of himself in the club’s colours.

The Nigerian attacker also openly complained about unfair treatment from Atalanta in a statement on his social media page, and then went on to tender a transfer record. To cap things, Lookman went on strike, refusing to turn up for training for 15 days.

However, after all the drama, Lookman returned to Atalanta last week. But he has been training in isolation.

Ademola Lookman could still leave the club before the close of the transfer window next week. But since no other club has made an offer for him yet, his future is in the balance.

But according to Calciomercato, in the event that Lookman doesn’t get a transfer and stays at Atalanta, the club is willing reconcile and reintegrate him back into the squad.

With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for December, it is an option he would have to accept if he wants to make Nigeria’s squad for the tournament.

Lookman will be hoping that his future is settled soon enough so he can focus on his football.
