Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman was offered to La Liga club Atletico Madrid, but they refused to sign him.

Lookman has had a rough summer due to the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Midway into last season, there were reports that he already had an agreement in place with Atalanta to let him leave if an offer came in for him this summer. So, it seemed clear that he would leave Bergamo.

However, things have not worked as he would have hoped. Lookman has been linked with many clubs this summer, but no one put in a bid until Inter Milan did three weeks ago.

Unfortunately for Lookman, Atalanta rejected the offer, and that got him angry. He unfollowed Atalanta and deleted all posts of himself at the club. Then, he released a statement, complaining of ill-treatment, before tendering a transfer request at the club.

When that did not yield the desirable results, Lookman then went on strike. Still, Atalanta did not change their mind on Inter Milan’s bid.

Lookman has now returned to Atalanta, but he is training away from the rest of his teammates, as there is still a chance that he will leave this summer.

Atletico Madrid Unconvinced About Ademola Lookman

His agents will obviously be working extra now, as there are just four days until the close of the transfer window.

In a related development, per Atletico Universe, Lookman was offered to Atletico Madrid two days ago, but they refused, insisting that they were unsure about the 27-year-old forward. So, apparently, Atleti has been ruled out as a potential destination.

Los Rojiblancos’ decision to turn down Lookman is quite surprising, as he is one of the best wingers in the world, and he would fit into coach Diego Simeone’s style of play seamlessly.

Lookman does not want to play for Atalanta anymore. So, in the coming hours, he will be offered to many clubs as the parties involved look to find a solution.
