Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman has returned to Atalanta after refusing to report for training since the start of pre-season in order to force a move out of the club.
Lookman’s transfer mix with Atalanta and Inter Milan has been one of the hottest topics in the 2025 summer transfer window.
The Super Eagles striker wants to leave Atalanta this summer. But nothing has happened despite links to multiple clubs.

Lookman has been brilliant for Atalanta since joining from RB Leipzig three years ago, contributing 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 games. He also scored a hattrick in the final of the Europa League two years ago to help Atalanta win their first continental title.
Following his displays, he was linked to Arsenal, Barcelona, West Ham in the first few weeks of the summer transfer window.
Nonetheless, none of them made a significant move to sign him until Inter Milan tabled a €45 million offer for him.
However, Atalanta rejected the offer, insisting on €50 million at least before they consider a sale.
This action drew ire from the Super Eagles star, as he unfollowed Atalanta on social media and archived all images of him at the club.
He then released a statement stating that he felt unfairly treated and he had already tendered a transfer request.
Lookman also refused to report for training without informing the club since August 4th and faces a severe punishment.
But despite all these, Atalanta have stood their ground and remain adamant on their €45 million valuation of the 27-year-old winger.
In a new development, per reports from Italy, Lookman was spotted at Atalanta’s training facilities today, and it seems he is ready to return to training.

With the Inter option now off, Atalanta are open to reintegrating him, while also considering internal sanctions.
Foreign bids would still be welcomed, but unless they meet the price tag, he’ll be at Juric’s disposal, as @APaglia7 said. pic.twitter.com/ND58OKJxB8

So for now, Lookman will have to start training at Atalanta ahead of the new season which begins this weekend.
However, he might not join the rest of his teammates just yet, as it is still unclear whether he will still leave La Dea this summer.
Lookman has been linked to other top club this summer, and one of them could decide to swoop in for him before the window closes on September 1.
