Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman was satisfied with his performance during Atletico Madrid’s 5-0 thrashing of Real Betis in the Copa del Rey on Thursday, SportPremi reports.

The 28-year-old joined the club earlier this week in a €40 million move, with a fixed €35 million and an additional €5 million in add-ons.
Lookman had scored 55 times during his spell at Atalanta, where he became one of the best players in the world and won the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award after a remarkable year with the Italian club.

The 28-year-old had only few days to train with his new teammates in Spain, but one would think he had been part of the team for a while after his inspiring display.
The Nigerian forward showed great understandings with his teammates and also got into good goalscoring positions during an impressive 79 minutes on the field of play.
He opened his account for the club in the 37th minute with a brilliant individual goal, beating two defenders and slotting into the bottom corner.
Lookman was also involved in the buildup to the second goal, before providing an assist for the fourth, as Atletico Madrid completed a convincing 5-0 win to advance to the semifinals.
Lookman delighted with dream start to Atletico career
Nigerian forward Lookman didn’t take time to adapt to life at Atletico Madrid, scoring one and providing another during their 5-0 win at Real Betis.
Speaking after the match, the 28-year-old was delighted with his performances and believed he would continue to improve at the club.
“I’m very, very happy, it’s been great coming here, being welcomed by the team and the staff, everyone’s been great with me, so it’s a dream start”, Lookman stated.
“Obviously, I just try to make the runs, try to be dangerous in the one-v-one situations and moments where I feel there’s something, so it’s just about repetition, to keep doing the same moments and try to be dangerous.
“I’m very happy to be at a special club, and that happiness, the feeling, makes me want to work hard, makes me want to perform.
“That’s what I have to keep doing. Keep working hard, keep staying dedicated, keep on trying to be consistent every single day, and that’s the most important thing”, he continued.
The Nigerian forward also urged the team to pickup from where they left off when they face Real Betis for the second time in four days in Sunday’s La Liga clash.
“We’ll try to do the same thing because we created a lot of chances today, so we’ll try to hurt them in those moments, but we’ll also stay strong without the ball.
“We were very solid defensively, and we have to keep it going”, Lookman concluded.
Lookman will be eyeing another impressive performance for Atletico Madrid in their next outing, when they welcome Real Betis to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Sunday.
