The Nigerian forward completed a €40 million move to the Spanish club earlier this week, with a fixed fee of €35 million and an additional €5 million in add-ons.

He was immediately thrust in action and he showed fans a glimpse of what they are to expect for the four-and-a-half year contract he signed at the club.

Lookman scores 100th career goal and assist on Atletico Madrid debut

Super Eagles forward Lookman started in a front two alongside Antoine Griezmann as Diego Simeone’s side face a tough trip to Real Betis for their quarterfinal clash in the Copa del Rey.

They started on top and grabbed the lead in the 12th minute as David Hancko headed in a corner kick from Koke.

Lookman then dragged a shot wide, before Atletico’s new number 22 fired another volley high into the stands.

The Nigerian was proving to be a menace and he was involved in the second goal as he played a pass into the path of Matteo Ruggeri, who cut back for Giuliano Simeone to double their lead.

The 28-year-old finally got on the scoresheet with a beautiful goal as he marked his debut with a historic feat in his career, netting his 100th career goal.

He ran onto a through ball and beat two defenders graciously, before firing into the back of the bet as Atletico took a three-goal advantage into the break.

Lookman turned provider in the 62nd minute as he played Griezmann through and the Frenchman added the finishing touch for 4-0.

Thiago Almada completed the scoring late on in the clash as Atletico Madrid sealed a comfortable 5-0 win on a difficult ground.

What next for Lookman and Atletico Madrid?

For Lookman, it was an impressive debut after his move from Atalanta during the transfer window and it seems as though he has settled in easily to the Spanish club.

The Super Eagles forward will be eyeing another starting berth on Sunday when they go up against the same opponents, this time in the La Liga.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will discover their semifinal opponents later today, with Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao completing the final four.
