Amas Obasogie has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s chances of securing a fourth African title at the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco, SportPremi reports.

The goalkeeper is yet to have a taste of action so far at the tournament, with first-choice Stanley Nwabali manning the post in the first two matches, while Francis Uzoho came into the team for the third group match.
The Super Eagles enjoyed a flawless campaign in the group stage, after winning all three of their Group C games.

They began their campaign with a 2-1 win over Tanzania, before a 3-2 win over Tunisia in the second group match sealed top spot and a spot in the knockout rounds of the competition.
The three-times African champions ended their group campaign with a commanding 3-1 victory over 10-man Uganda last Tuesday, underlining their title credentials.
Nigeria, alongside Algeria who they could face in the quarterfinals, are the only two countries to still have a 100% record in Morocco, after winning all their three games so far.
Obasogie confident in Super Eagles’ AFCON chances
Amas Obasogie, who made his debut for Nigeria in the 2-1 defeat to Egypt earlier in the month during a warmup match for the AFCON tournament, believes the Super Eagles can go all the way to win the tournament.
According to the 26-year-old, the players are ready to give their all and write their names into the history books with victory.
“The group stage performance was top notch we played to the instructions of the coach. From the players we are in top form a d everyone is putting their effort and we are looking forward to the second round. We were tested in every game but there was no tension for us as we were able to deliver”, Obasogie stated.
“The round of 16 is a different tournament and we are going to give more than what we gave in the group stage. We will not underrate any team, whoever comes our way we will give more than what we gave in the group stage.
“We are hoping for good results as we have always trained hard and hopefully we will see ourselves in the final”, the shot-stopper concluded.
What next for the Super Eagles?
Nigeria finished top of Group C with a 100% record and their reward is a clash against Group F third-placed team Mozambique in the round of 16.
The Super Eagles are favourites to clinch victory in that encounter, setting up a potential rematch of the CAF playoff finals against DR Congo in the quarterfinals.
However, if the Leopards fail to qualify, it means Nigeria will face Algeria, in a rematch of the 2019 AFCON semifinal match which the Desert Warriors won 1-0 on their way to clinching the title.
