Two of the most exciting teams in European club football face off this week on matchday two of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. Barcelona missed out on a chance to face PSG in last season’s final following their loss to Inter Milan, with the French side going on to win the final 5-0.

Despite the potential absences of several star players in this clash, with ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona’s Raphinha among a host of players ruled out, there are still a lot of exciting reasons not to miss this match. The battle between Lamine Yamal and Nuno Mendes promises to be as exciting as well as that of Marcus Rashford and Achraf Hakimi.

Kickoff for this fascinating clash is by 8 PM on Wednesday.

Chelsea vs Benfica

Billed as a home-coming for manager Jose Mourinho, Chelsea welcome Benfica to Stamford Bridge with both sides hoping to record a first win of the UCL season. The Blues thrashed their opponents 4-1 after extra time when they met in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 tie, but are not in the best form going into this clash.

The London side have lost three matches in a row and with pressure growing around their squad, they must navigate the visit of the Portuguese side without the presence of their star player, Cole Palmer.

Kickoff for this clash is by 8 PM on Tuesday

The last time these two teams met in the UCL, a then 16-year-old Kylian Mbappe lit up the stage with a spectacular showing across both legs of the tie. Mbappe has since gone on to make waves in football, while Man City have also lifted the elusive Champions League title.

It promises to be an exciting clash in France, with the home side looking to bounce back from a shock 4-1 defeat against Club Brugge in their opener.

Kickoff for this tie is by 8 PM on Wednesday.

Lyon vs Salzburg

Few years ago, this would have been a perfectly poised match in the UCL. However, both sides have dropped form in recent times and are now poised to meet on matchday two in the UCL.
