Former Super Eagles defender Ben Iroha has warned that Nigeria should not expect an easy outing against Algeria in their AFCON quarterfinal showdown, SportPremi reports.

The Super Eagles face Algeria at the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, hoping to progress to the next round of the tournament.
Nigeria have been very impressive so far at the 2025 AFCON, winning every of their four games and scoring the highest number of goals (12).

The three-time champions also recorded the biggest margin of victory at the tournament during their 4-0 thrashing of Mozambique in their Round of 16 clash.
Algeria have also been equally impressive, with a 100% record as well from their four matches, although they went through extra-time to defeat DR Congo in their last match.
Both teams will take to the field later today at the Stade de Marrakech, with a semifinal fixture against Morocco on the line.
Iroha sends strong warning to Nigeria ahead of Algeria clash
Ben Iroha, who was part of the 1994 AFCON winning team for the Super Eagles, says that the team must be wary of the threat posed by the North Africans.
The retired defender was part of the squad that lost the 1990 African Cup of Nations final to the Desert Warriors, but is confident Eric Chelle’s men can overcome their challenge this time around.
“As a player, I played against Algeria three times and I know how they play and their style of play. They are a good side, no doubt. But they are full of antics. They are technically and tactically disciplined too”, the former Nigerian defender stated.
“So, if the Super Eagles put their skills to good use, add their speed and physical attributes to the game, I’ve no doubt they will defeat Algeria.
“With skill, speed and physicality, the Super Eagles should knock Algeria off their traditional play, denying them time and space all through the game. Then victory will come.
This team has done well so far. They’ve improved and continue to get better. It’s one game at a time, and if they keep their heads high, Nigerians will have something to celebrate at the end of the tournament”, Iroha concluded.
Nigeria will play away from the Fez Stadium later today when they take on Algeria in their last eight encounter at the 2025 AFCON tournament.
A victory will seal their spot in the last four against Morocco, as they continue their quest for a long-awaited fourth African crown.
