Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has backed Kelechi Iheanacho for great achievements at the club.
The Super Eagles forward joined the Scottish champions on an initial one-year deal with the option of an extra year, following the termination of his contract at Spanish side Sevilla.
He only moved to Spain in the summer of 2024 after leaving Leicester City following the expiration of his contract, but endured a disappointing spell at the club.
He struggled for playing time before he was eventually loaned out in January and deemed surplus to requirements this summer.
Iheanacho reunites with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic, after their spell together at Leicester where the Nigerian enjoyed the best goalscoring season of his career.
With concerns over the form and fitness of the 28-year-old, Rodgers is confident the Nigerian attacker will provide enough firepower and depth needed by his squad.

“Thankfully at the end of the window there was a player that was available that I know very well,” Rodgers revealed in his prematch press conference.
“Kel was a player that was brilliant for me at Leicester. I only want to take someone here who was robust and he’s a genuine talent.
“And if I can get that out of him again it could be a big plus for us. So we lost Adam. Adam made a really good contribution here”, the Celtics manager continued.
Can Iheanacho rediscover form at Celtic?
Kelechi Iheanacho has always been destined for great things since his breakout at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2013.
He impressed at former English Premier League champions Manchester City but left the club for Leicester City in 2017 in search of regular playing minutes.
At Leicester, he formed a lethal partnership with former England striker Jamie Vardy, before going on to win the FA Cup, Community Shield and the EFL Championship title following the club’s relegation.
The Super Eagles forward has been backed to rediscover his old form after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, especially while playing under a familiar manager under whom he has enjoyed some of the best spells of his career.
