Iheanacho was substituted with an apparent hamstring injury just four minutes into the Hoops 2-1 win over Sturm Graz on Thursday night.

The Super Eagles forward joined the club in the summer on a free transfer, following his exit from Spanish side Sevilla where he struggled for form.

The 29-year-old has been quite impressive in his first few months at Celtic Park, netting three times and providing one assist in all competitions, including scoring the club’s first Europa League goal of the season.

Celtic came back from a goal down on Thursday night to record their first European win of the season and bounce back from a poor run of form.

The visitors stunned the home side, taking the lead through a stunning strike from Tomi Horvat in the first half.

Liam Scales pulled one back in the second half, before Benjamin Nygren put them ahead three minutes later in the 64th minute.

The visitors were then reduced to ten men in the 70th minute, when Tochi Chukwuani was sent off for a rash challenge.

Celtic suffer Iheanacho injury blow

Since his move to Celtic in the summer, Kelechi Iheanacho has proven his quality and importance to the team.

The Nigerian striker has contributed to four goals in all competitions, making him one of the players with the most goal contributions for the Hoops this season.

Speaking after the win, Brendan Rodgers gave updates on the situation of the 29-year-old, as well as defender Alistair Johnson who also came off injured in the clash.

“It doesn’t look great. It looks like a hamstring (injury). We’ll see where it is, but it looks like hamstrings, which isn’t great”, the Celtic boss said.

“I’m not worried about (squad depth). I’m really only worried about how we played tonight, and that’s our focus. We’ll see what it is in the morning, and if they’re not available…we just have to accept it if we have injuries.”
