President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) Samuel Eto’o has been handed a four match stadium ban and fined $20,000 by CAF for misconduct at the 2025 African Cup of Nations, SportPremi reports.

The AFCON all-time top scorer was in attendance for the Indomitable Lions 2-0 defeat to host nation Morocco in their quarterfinal encounter and openly expressed his frustrations at some of the decisions made by the officials.
Cameroon were on the receiving end of some poor decision making in that particular encounter, with Eto’o making several angry gestures during the course of the match.
The Indomitable Lions have already been eliminated, while Morocco have progressed to the final after defeating Nigeria on penalties in their semifinal clash.
Eto’o became president of the FECAFOOT in 2021, but has seen his time marred by several controversies.
In the buildup to the tournament, he reportedly fired head coach Marc Brys and appointed David Pagou as his replacement.
Both coaches subsequently released separate lists of players for the tournament, although it was the latter who guided Cameroon to a last eight exit.
CAF fines Eto’o for misconduct
In a statement released, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) disciplinary panel found the Cameroon football federation’s president guilty of misconduct.
“The CAF Disciplinary Board found Mr Eto’o guilty of violating the principles of sportsmanship set out in Article 2(3) of the CAF Statutes and Article 82 of the CAF Disciplinary Code for his misconduct during the said match,” CAF said in a statement.
“The CAF Disciplinary Board imposed a stadium ban on Mr Samuel Eto’o Fils for the next four (4) official CAF matches played in the context of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025.
“CAF will make no further comment on the matter.”
The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) have already rejected the decision and are ready to appeal.
