The Super Eagles B of Nigeria have been knocked out of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) despite winning their third group game of the competition against Congo on Tuesday.
Nigeria lost their opening game of the CHAN against Senegal 1-0. Then, they were embarrassed by Sudan in their second game 4-0.
That ensured that their final group stage game against Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium was a mere ceremonial game.
Nonetheless, the players put in their all and goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi ensured that they ran out with a hard-fought 2-0 victory after 90 minutes.

Despite their early ouster at CHAN, Nigeria will still get a lot of money though. According to ACL Sports, Nigeria will get $300,000 (equivalent of ₦461,000,000) from CAF for finishing third in their group.

This money will go to the Nigeria Football Federation though, and not the players. Unlike their counterparts - the D’Tigers, D’Tigress, and the Super Falcons - the CHAN Eagles won’t get any monetary reward from the government.
What’s Next For The CHAN Eagles?
Now that their African Nations Championship journey is over, the CHAN Eagles will go to their different clubs in the country.
The NPFL is billed to resume in a few weeks, so the players will look to take a short break before resuming for action at their various clubs.
For the coach, Eric Chelle, his priority will be the Super Eagles main team. The 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers resume in September, and Nigeria is condemned to win all the remaining group games.
If he fails to deliver, it would likely cost him his job, especially as his failure with the CHAN Eagles will be considered.
