Crystal Palace midfielder Christantus Uche has backed himself to succeed and make strong contributions at the club.
The Super Eagles star joined the English Premier League club on transfer deadline day from Spanish side Getafe on an initial loan deal with an obligation to sign permanently in 2026.
The 22-year-old made his EPL debut on Saturday, coming on as a late substitute in last Saturday’s goalless draw against newly-promoted Sunderland.
He impressed on the short time he was on the pitch, giving fans a glimpse of his qualities.
The youngster fired in a brilliant move effort but was denied a debut goal by Robin Roefs in the Black Cats’ goal.
Uche, has enjoyed a remarkable rise in his career and was playing in the Spanish fifth-tier just three years ago.
The Nigerian star moved to Getafe in 2024, before joining Palace a year after following an impressive season in Spain.
On Saturday, Crystal Palace’s unbeaten start to the 2025/26 EPL season continued as they were held at home to a scoreless draw by Sunderland.
The Eagles were the better side for majority of the encounter, but were denied by impressive goalkeeping from Robin Roefs.

Uche eyes big impact at Crystal Palace
Speaking after the match, the Nigerian international believes he can go on to reach high feats at the club.
“I would say the game is good, but it’s not the result we wanted,” Uche said after the match.
“We tried to put all the work, but it didn’t work out, but nevertheless we keep working every day to get it right.
“The fans are good. I heard ‘Uche, Uche’! That’s what motivated me more, because for me I play with fans. I play with everybody. Once the fans trust in me, I will give everything 100 percent”, he added.
The Super Eagles star also spoke good words about his manager Oliver Glasner, revealing excitement to play under the manager.
“He said that I should go in there and make it right. I’m seeing him. He’s a great coach and he believes in me. I have to go inside and give my best.
“I believe in myself so much. I believe once I’m on the field, I’ll make something that will surprise everybody, because I believe in myself”, Uche continued.
“It doesn’t matter when you put me [on], I will play, so once I enter today, I have a feeling that I will make something change. It didn’t come today, but hopefully next game it will come.”
