Former Manchester United coach Erik Ten Hag has been fired at German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen following a run of disappointing results.
Ten Hag took over from Xabi Alonso after the latter left for Real Madrid at the end of last season.
The Dutch tactician had been off the job since his sack at Manchester United, but his antecedents at Ajax was the catalyst for him to get the Bayer Leverkusen job.

Die Werkself have endured a difficult summer that has seen them lose most of their biggest stars, including Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Piero Hincapie, and Jonathan Tah. However, they have done some decent business in the transfer market.
Ten Hag first raised eyebrows when Bayer Leverkusen were bashed 5-0 by Flamengo’s under-20 team. Nonetheless, they later picked up, beating Pisa, Bochum, and Fortuna Sittard in their remaining pre-season games.
Bayer Leverkusen started the campaign on a bad note, losing 2-1 to Hoffenheim at BayArena. And since then, there have been speculations that Ten Hag might get an early sack.
Then last weekend, Die Werkself flattered to deceive again, as 10-man Werder Bremen forced them to a 3-3 draw from 3-1 up.
Amid all that, there were also speculations that he did not have the full backing of the players at the club.
Bayer Leverkusen’s board members met on the issue on Monday, and they have now confirmed that Ten Hag has been sacked.
Ten Hag is the third former Manchester United coach to be sacked in just a week, after Fenerbahce sacked Jose Mourning and Besiktas sacked Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.
Who Replaces Erik Ten Hag At Bayer Leverkusen?
Now that Bayer Leverkusen have sacked coach Erik Ten Hag, they have to start looking at other options quickly.
As at press time, no name has been mentioned, but they will surely make a decision soon.
