Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray seem to have abandoned their pursuit of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes.
The Cimbom are making a splurge this summer, and they don’t seem to be done just yet. Just weeks ago, Galatasaray signed Victor Osimhen from Napoli in a blockbuster deal worth €75 million. It is the most expensive transfer in the history of Turkish football by more than a mile.
They also signed Leroy Sane following the expiry of his contract at Bayern Munich.
However, Galatasaray are not done with the arrivals just yet. Their long-serving goalkeeper, Fernando Muslera, left the club at the end of last season, thereby creating a void in that position.
The Cimbom have been heavily linked with Manchester City goalie Ederson for weeks, but nothing has emerged from those talks yet.
Galatasaray are willing to pay €10 million for his services, but Manchester City want €25 million. This does not make sense to Galatasaray, as Ederson is already 32 and won’t give them a lot of years.
Now, it appears that Galatasaray are no longer interested in Ederson, as they have identified a younger target. This is as transfer expert Florian Plettenberg reports that the club have tabled an official bid of €20 million to Porto for the services of Diogo Jota.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper is one of the highly-rated goalies in the world and is Portugal’s number one.

Costa has spent his entire life at Porto. He started from the academy, got promoted to the senior team, and has been the undisputed number one at the club for the past four years.
Landing Costa would be a big heist for Galatasaray if they can pull it off. He has been tipped to move to a top club in the top five European leagues in a few years.
But just like Osimhen and Sane, they would tempt him with incredibly high wages. The Portuguese star currently earns around €27,000 per week at Porto, so a significant increment should be enticing.
Will Ederson Stay at Manchester City?
Ederson’s future seems to be a tricky one at the moment. He still has a year left on his contract, and Manchester City would want to get a fee off him if he does not pen an extension.

But if he stays at Manchester City, he won’t want to play second fiddle to James Trafford.
Pep Guardiola has remained coy about the issue, as he inferred that he still wants Ederson at the club.
But that is just classic Guardiola, as he did the same with Sergio Kun Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan the year they left.
Nonetheless, from the instant Manchester City signed Trafford, it was clear that Guardiola wanted to move Ederson on. It is highly unlikely that the 32-year-old will be at the club in a few weeks.
