Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has officially released his final squad list for the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament scheduled to commence on the 21st of this month in Morocco, SportPremi reports.

The former Mali head coach had earlier announced a provisional 54-man squad and was expected to trim it down to the final list before the December 11 deadline.

The list is headlined by talisman Victor Osimhen, who leads the attack as well as Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman and Fulham winger Samuel Chukwueze.

Paul Onuachu makes a return to the team after his superb start to the season for Turkish club Trabzonspor, while Cyriel Dessers also makes the list despite only recently returning to action.

Ryan Alebiosu, who earned his first-ever call-up could also make his debut for the Super Eagles with his inclusion in the squad, as well as young midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.

However, Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was left out in a surprise omission with Francis Uzoho coming in as the like-for-like replacement, while Tolu Arokodare also missed out on the final team list.

Other notable absentees include the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Nathan Tella, Victor Boniface and Ebenezer Harcourt.

Super Eagles Eye Fourth Crown

Nigeria head into the African Cup of Nations tournament hoping to put behind their disappointment of missing out on the 2023 edition.

They reached the final of that edition under former manager Jose Peseiro, but suffered an agonizing 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast.

The Super Eagles will also be fueled by their recent disappointment of failing to reach the 2026 FIFA World Cup, after they missed out in the CAF playoff final to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Eric Chelle’s men begin their campaign on the 23rd against Tanzania, before games against Tunisia and Uganda to round off action in group C.

All eyes will be on Osimhen and his teammates as they aim to secure Nigeria’s long-awaited fourth continental title.
