Former Nigerian international Sambo Choji has tipped the Super Eagles to come out victorious in their 2025 AFCON quarterfinal clash against Algeria on Saturday, SportPremi reports.

Nigeria will contest against Algeria on Saturday in the third quarterfinal tie at the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, seeking revenge on their defeat in 2019.
The Desert Warriors scored a late goal in that encounter through Riyad Mahrez to clinch a 2-1 victory in the semifinal and advance to the final where they defeated Senegal 1-0 to win their second title.
The Super Eagles have won all four of their matches so far in Morocco and have also scored the most goals at the tournament.
They breezed through past Tanzania, Uganda and Tunisia to finish as Group C winners and recorded an emphatic 4-0 win over Mozambique in their Round of 16 clash earlier in the week.
The team will be highly motivated ahead of the clash, as they hope to better their performances in the last AFCON edition, when they were beaten finalists.
Sambo Choji tips Nigeria to advance from quarterfinal clash
Former Nigerian U-17 champions Sambo Choji while speaking ahead of the clash against Algeria, believes the team are well focused and should claim victory to advance to the next round.
The team was briefly disturbed by an on-field incident between Victor Osimhen and Adenola Lookman in their Round of 16 win over Mozambique, but the retired winger believes the team is past that and have the quality to defeat any opponent at the tournament.
“You can see the team has done well so far in the competition and they keep improving game by game in my opinion. Everything that has happened in the team after the Mozambique game has been settled and the team is focused now on the game” the former Nigerian forward stated.
“Algeria are a very tough team to deal with and they have some very good players, but I believe in our boys to beat them and make the semi-final. It will be a very tough game for Nigeria, to be honest, but I believe in the boys. Lookman is on fire and Osimhen is also getting better with each game.
“I hope the defence can be solid, with Bassey and Ajayi cutting off the supply to Mahrez. If we can do that, then it will be a Nigeria win. It will not be easy, but I tip Nigeria to win the game”, Choji concluded.
Nigeria face Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech later on Saturday evening, eyeing a spot in the last four where they could face either host nation Morocco or West African rivals Cameroon for a place in the final.
