Rio Ferdinand believes Frankie De Jong would be the right signing for Manchester United. He has the capacity to be a balancer in the Man United midfield.

Frenkie De Jong has been rumored to be wanted by Manchester United. Man United’s new manager, Erik Ten Hag, reportedly wants the Dutch midfielder in an attempt to overhaul the Red Devils’ midfield.

Ten Hag knows the quality of De Jong because he has coached the Dutch midfielder while at Ajax.

The collaboration between the two was able to bring the Eriedevisie title, the KNVB Cup, and to penetrate the Champions League semifinals.

To sign Frankie De Jong Manchester United must be prepared to spend 70 million euros to make up for De Jong’s price tag set by Barcelona. The price was five million euros cheaper when Barcelona signed De Jong from Ajax in 2019.

Man United legend Rio Ferdinand fully supports Ten Hag’s move to sign De Jong. He assesses De Jong has the quality to stable Manchester United midfield.

“I always thought he was a top player. They said Frenkie de Jong could be the first player to come under Erik ten Hag and I would say: ‘Yeah, great signing,”

“He’s not big but he’s fast with the ball and a very good dribbler. He can come out of pressing situations, make good decisions, is a good passer, balances and his dribbling skills are very good.”

“Man United are a team looking for players who can control the ball and control the game. They need to make the team function in terms of balance and possession. I think he will be a great addition.”

Ferdinand said on YouTube Five channel.
