Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka is on the verge of completing a loan move to join English Championship leaders Coventry City from Brentford until the end of the season, SportPremi reports.

The Nigerian midfielder has been subject of transfer speculations over the course of the January transfer window, with several clubs expressing their interest to acquire his services.
The likes of Birmingham City, Sheffield United and Spanish outfit Valencia were all in talks for his signature, although Coventry have now emerged as the perfect destination for the next six months.
Onyeka joined Brentford in 2021 from Denmark side Midtjylland and despite initial promise, he has struggled in the remaining years since then.
In case you missed this:
He started in the Bees first ever Premier League win, a 2-0 win over Arsenal in August 2021, but has never really stamped his authority on a starting berth in the lineup.
The 28-year-old joined German side Augsburg on loan for the entire 2024-25 season, where he enjoyed an impressive spell, but returned to Brentford last summer without guarantee of playing time.
Onyeka has played only six matches in the English Premier League this season, none as a starter and has not played since October.
The midfielder enjoyed an impressive spell with Nigeria at the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament, helping the team to win a record ninth bronze medal.
Onyeka set to join Coventry on loan
Frank Onyeka will now spend the remainder of the 2025-26 season helping Coventry City in their hunt for promotion to the English Premier League.
Frank Lampard’s men currently sit top of the championship standings, although their lead has been reduced over the last few weeks and will be buoyed by the arrival of Onyeka, whose tireless runs and press in the midfield will greatly suit the team.
The 28-year-old’s contract at Brentford will expire in 2027 and a very impressive loan spell at Coventry could set him up for a permanent move in the summer.
