The Nigerian midfielder joined Lazio in 2024 on an initial loan deal, which became permanent the following summer, but has struggled to stake a claim on a starting berth in the squad.

The 24-year-old has barely featured this season due to injury and commitments with Nigeria at the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament.

Dele-Bashiru provided the assist for Paul Onuachu’s goal in his first start of the competition during the Super Eagles’ 3-1 win over Uganda and featured in six of their seven matches, including in the bronze medal match.

However, he has been limited to just 10 appearances in the Serie A this season, starting only four times and making six substitute appearances.

The Super Eagles midfielder had looked to be heading away from the Stadio Olimpico during the January transfer window and attracted interests from several clubs across Europe.

English Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest made offers to acquire his service, while Turkish side Trabzonspor were also not left out.

Dele-Bashiru’s contract at Lazio expires in the summer of 2028, which is why the club are in no hurry to sanction a sale.

Bournemouth reportedly made a loan offer with an option for a permanent purchase worth up to €18 million to sign the midfielder, but were rebuffed by the Italian club.

He is now expected to remain at Biancocelesti at least until the end of the season, hoping to gain more playing minutes under manager Maurizio Sarri.
