Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman and Hull City defender Semi Ajayi have linked up with the Super Eagles at their training camp in Cairo as preparations continue for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, SportPremi reports.

Lookman, 28, joined the camp ahead of Tuesday’s clash against Egypt in a preparatory friendly match for the tournament, after featuring for the entire 90 minutes in Atalanta’s 2-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday.

The 2024 African Footballer of the year award winner has scored three times in his last few outings and will hope to bring his goalscoring touch to the national team, where he has struggled in recent outings.

The 32-year-old will play a huge role for the Super Eagles in the tournament, with the absences of William Troost-Ekong and young defender Benjamin Fredrick.

Nigeria and Egypt clash in pre-tournament friendly

The Super Eagles face Egypt in a preparatory friendly game ahead of this month’s African Cup of Nations.

The clash was initially scheduled to hold on the 14th, but was shifted by two days due to FIFA release deadline of December 15th for clubs.

Nigeria have won the last two meetings between both sides and will be eyeing another victory to gain momentum heading into the main tournament.

The three-time champions will compete in group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda for a shot at glory, hoping to bounce back from disappointment of the 2024 edition.
