The Super Eagles boast an abundant of quality in every area, particularly in the attacking position, ranking them one of the best in Africa.

The forward line is spearheaded by 2023 CAF Men’s player of the year award winner Victor Osimhen, as well as, 2024 recipient of the award Ademola Lookman.

Simon also joins the star-studded attacking options which also includes the likes of Samuel Chukwueze, Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare, Paul Onuachu, Victor Boniface and Kelechi Iheanacho.

However, the team have been found to be heavily reliant on Galatasaray forward Osimhen, despite the vast options in attack.

The 26-year-old was very instrumental in Nigeria’s run to the CAF playoff final and it was no coincidence the country failed to reach the next stage in his absence.

He was taken off at halftime of the clash with an injury and the three-time African champions struggled in his absence, failing to threaten a resilient DR Congo defense.

No player has more goals for the national team since his debut and he is only six goals from breaking Rashidi Yekini’s all-time topscorer record.

Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to name his final squad for the 2025 African Cup of Nations soon, as the December 11 deadline set by CAF looms.

Can the Super Eagles attack lead them to success at the AFCON?

With multiple talents across the forward line, Nigeria boast one of the most formidable attacking options on the continent.

However, head coach Eric Chelle must find a way to get the attackers playing in sync, as previous matches have shown moments where their chemistry was lacking.

Much of Nigeria’s hopes will also depend on the fitness of talisman Victor Osimhen, whose condition could prove decisive to the Super Eagles’ chances at the tournament.

The quest to win a fourth AFCON title begins on the 23rd of this month against Tanzania, with other group games against Tunisia and Uganda on the 27th and 30th respectively.
