The Super Eagles of Nigeria lock horns with Rwanda in their seventh game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers series on Saturday.
Nigeria, desperate to get their qualification push back on track, as they sit fourth in Group C, need to win. The Amavubi of Rwanda, on the other hand, are second in the group and need a win to keep them in touch with leaders, South Africa.
Ordinarily, if the game were to be decided by the quality of the players on paper, Nigeria would give Rwanda a sound thrashing.
However, the Super Eagles have often struggled to fly, and they may yet again falter.
But in this piece, we’ll write about four players who could make a big difference against Rwanda.
1. Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is undoubtedly the best player in the Super Eagles squad. And with him on the team, there is an assurance that there will be goals.
The Galatasaray star has 26 goals for Nigeria, and coach Eric Chelle will be banking on him to deliver once more.
2. Samuel Chukwueze

Although an unlikely option, Samuel Chukwueze could be key against Rwanda. He has a spring in his step after sealing a transfer to Fulham, and he will want to give a strong showing before returning to club football.
During the Unity Cup in June, Chukwueze looked really good in Eric Chelle’s unique system. So, there is a good chance that he will start and flourish again. He has the tools in his bag. He is tricky, quick and fiery, so he could be key on Saturday.
3. Stanley Nwabali

Over the last few years, it has been clear that the goalkeeping department is actually crucial for the Super Eagles.
Stanley Nwabali has brought some calm to Nigeria’s goalposts. But in recent games, he hasn’t exactly been great.
However, he sure does have the quality, and can be very good on his day. Nigerian fans will be hoping that the Chippa United skipper will be at his best on Saturday.
4. Christantus Uche

Christantus Uche is one of the rising stars of Nigerian football. He just got his maiden Super Eagles call-up in June, but he has the quality to become a regular.
His physicality and technicality makes him a great asset for coach Eric Chelle. In fact, it just makes him fitted to the African game.
Uche could just be the x-factor for the Super Eagles on Saturday.
