Nigeria midfielder Frank Onyeka remains confident they can secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ahead of two crucial clashes against Rwanda and South Africa this month.
The Super Eagles host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday, before a trip to the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein next Tuesday to face South Africa.
Victor Osimhen netted two first half goals against the Amavubi in March to guide Nigeria to their first win of the qualifying campaign.
Speaking ahead of the Friday’s clash, Onyeka, who plies his trade in England with Brentford believes the Super Eagles have hope despite their precarious position.

“I know it’s not easy feeling this way, especially after the past games. We’re in a difficult position now, but as a team we are doing everything we can,” the Brentford midfielder said.
“We are confident, we are training hard, and the coaches as well as everyone in the squad believe we can come out with good results.”
Nigeria face crucial qualifiers
The Super Eagles have endured a dismal qualifying campaign and have only won once in six matches.
Disappointing results against Benin Republic, Zimbabwe and Lesotho, has left them in a tough spot to qualify as they are currently six points behind South Africa with four matches left to play.
Nigeria must defeat both Rwanda and South Africa and hope other group results go their way, before facing their final two qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic in October.
