Brazilian forward Antony completed his transfer to Real Betis on transfer deadline day after weeks of speculations.

The Sao Paulo-trained right-winger joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022, in a mega deal worth €95 million, but the deal did not work out.

Antony struggled to perform in a struggling Manchester United side that was under the tutelage of then-coach Erik Ten Hag. He only managed 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances.

Antony’s time at Manchester United was halted last year, following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as coach. He had to leave on loan to La Liga club Real Betis midway through the season.

There, he became a hero quickly. Antony put in some really impressive performances to help the club reach the UEFA Conference League final and a sixth-place finish in La Liga.

Upon the end of his loan, Antony returned to Manchester United, but it was clear that Real Betis wanted to sign him permanently and Amorim didn’t want him.

However, the deal dragged on until the end of the transfer market due to Manchester United’s high financial demands. They eventually settled for €22 million on transfer deadline day.

Bayern Munich Wanted Antony

Interestingly, it has been revealed that Antony could have easily joined another club. According to transfer news live, Bayern Munich wanted the former Ajax man, but he rejected the transfer because his heart was at Real Betis.

The German giants were desperately in need of an attacker due to their thin squad size, but they could not get him.

Now that Antony’s transfer has been sorted, he will look to help Real Betis do well this season.
