Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed the details of his meeting with co-owner Jim Radcliffe this week.

The Portuguese has come under intense pressure at the club, after seeing his side struggle to secure favorable results.

The 40-year-old joined the Red Devils in November last year, following the sacking of Erik Ten Hag, but is yet to make a good impression since his move.

He led the club to a 15th-placed finish in the league last season, which was their worst-ever league finish and point tally in 50 years.

The Red Devils also reached the final of the UEFA Europa League, before eventually losing out to rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the final in May.

Despite receiving the backing of the club’s hierarchy in the summer, there has been little signs of improvement with poor results already this season.

Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens joined the club in the summer, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Andre Onana, Antony and Marcus Rashford departing.

After an impressive display in their league-opening 1-0 win over Arsenal, Man United have failed to keep up with their opponents in their remaining matches.

They suffered a shock second round exit to League Two opponents Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup and were comfortably beaten 3-0 in the Manchester derby last Sunday.

Up next for Ruben Amorim and his team is a chance for reprieve against Chelsea on Saturday evening at the Old Trafford Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the home game against Chelsea this weekend, Amorim opened up about his meeting with the co-owner earlier this week.

“New contract, he was offering me a new contract”, the Portuguese said in an interview.

“No, it’s normal things, just to show the support, explaining that it’s a long project. He said many times, ‘This is my third season.’ For me, it’s not. But normal things.

“I spoke with him, with [CEO] Omar [Berrrada], with [director of football] Jason [Wilcox], just trying to see all the data around the team. So, a normal meeting, and we had several, but in this moment, it’s normal that people pay attention to that”, Amorim added.

“This is football and this is the club with more pressure, maybe, than any in the world, but we want to win.”
