When people think about records in football, the first things that usually comes to mind are players breaking goalscoring records or setting new marks for appearances made.

However, there are usually a few unusual stats, just like the one Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro broke against West Ham United on Saturday.

Since joining the North London club in 2023 from Sporting Lisbon, the Spanish defender has become a regular in the team, but you will be shocked at the record he just broke.

Pedro Porro has played 87 matches in the English Premier League and is yet to be involved in a goalless draw. It is the second-longest start to an EPL career without a goalless scoreline after former Arsenal defender Mikael Silvestre, who went 134 matches before appearing in one.

Considering the quality of defenders the Premier League has seen, this feat is nothing short of outstanding and maybe it’s even time to start associating goals to Porro’s name as well.

The 26-year-old well-known for his driving runs down the right and his exceptional crossing, has made over 100 appearances in all competitions for Spurs in just over two years. Below are some of his landmark appearances.

Porro’s debut for Tottenham

Pedro Porro will not want to remember his debut for Spurs, struggling to impress in a 4-1 defeat to Leicester City in January 2023. He was replaced in the 75th minute, with Emerson Royal coming on in his place.

Porro’s 50th EPL match

The Spaniard made his 50th EPL appearance for Spurs in a 3-0 home win over Sheffield United on the final day of the 2023/24 season. He marked the feat with a goal, netting his side’s third with a fierce strike to seal his side’s place in the 2024/25 Europa League which they won.

Porro’s 87th match

Pedro Porro made his 87th league appearance for Tottenham in the 3-0 win over West Ham United last Saturday. It was a brilliant overall display by the defender, who played all 90 minutes in his side’s victory.

The defender’s eyes will be set on hitting the 135-game mark without a scoreless draw for Spurs, a feat that would see him claim the outright record.
