Nigeria continued their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after wrapping up their first training session in Fez, SportPremi confirms.

The Super Eagles arrived in Fez on Thursday, the city for their group stage matches which begins on the 23rd of this month.

The three-time champions had previously camped in Cairo, where they played a warmup friendly match against Egypt last Tuesday.

The Pharaohs edged that encounter 2-1, before both sides jetted off to Morocco in the hunt for continental glory.

Head coach Eric Chelle named a strong 28-man squad for the Super Eagles, led by Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

Fulham’s Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi are also eyeing inspiring roles for the national team, while Francis Uzoho will be hoping to make an impact on his return to the team.

The squad also features several new faces, with the likes of Ryan Alebiosu, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Usman Mohammed and Tochukwu Nnadi eyeing their first competitive appearances for the team.

Nigeria will face Tanzania on the 23rd, before facing Tunisia and Uganda in group C on the 27th and 30th respectively.

Nigeria eye victory at 2025 AFCON

Nigeria head to the African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, hoping to go one better than their second placed finish in 2023.

The Super Eagles suffered an agonizing 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in the final, falling short of glory once more.

However, the team will be hoping to put behind another disappointment of failing to reach the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following their playoff defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo, by securing victory in the AFCON tournament.
