Nigeria played two matches during the window against Iran and Jordan, taking part in a four-nation invitational tournament that took place in Antalya, Turkey.

The tournament was originally scheduled to hold in Jordan, but the venue was moved due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The Super Eagles defeated Iran in their opening encounter 2-1 with goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams.

Simon scored again in the 2-2 draw with Jordan, as well as Emmanuel Fernandez, who grabbed his first international goal.

The three-time African champions also remain in third position in Africa, behind Morocco in first place and Senegal in second position.

Morocco are the highest-ranked African team in the world at eighth position, while Senegal are ranked 14th in the latest FIFA Rankings.

Algeria and Egypt make up the top five in Africa and are ranked 29th and 30th in the world respectively.

Nigeria could drop in the rankings after the 2026 FIFA World Cup after failing to secure qualification, while their other African rivals are expected to take part at the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

However, they will look to bounce back when they participate in the qualification campaign for the 2027 African Cup of Nations tournament later this year.
