The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League season will begin under a new format, with match-day one fixtures scheduled for the 7th and 8th of October.
Eighteen teams will compete in a league-phase format, similar to the men’s event, before advancing to the knockout rounds of the competition.

7. Arsenal (2 UWCL titles):

While the men still dream of European glory, Arsenal Women have already conquered the competition twice and enter this season’s edition as the defending champions.
They remain the only English team to have won the competition, with Chelsea coming closest in 2021, before losing in the final to Barcelona.
6. Turbine Potsdam (2 UWCL titles):

German side Turbine Potsdam were once a dominant force in European football, reaching four UWCL finals between 2005 and 2011.
They won a first title in 2005 and claimed a second win five years later, defeating Lyon on penalty shootout.
5. Umea (2 UWCL titles):
Swedish outfit Umea are the only team from the Scandinavian country to have won the UEFA Women’s Champions League title.
They were previously a force to reckon with in women’s football, becoming the first side to win the competition in back-to-back seasons, in 2003 and 2004.
The club also reached the first three finals of the competition, although they were beaten in their first attempt in 2002 by Eintracht Frankfurt.
4. VFL Wolfsburg (2 UWCL titles):

Wolfsburg have won the UWCL on two occasions, in 2013 and 2014.
The German side also reached four more finals, most recently in 2023, but lost out to Barcelona despite taking a two-goal lead into half time.
3. Barcelona (3 UWCL titles):

Spanish side Barcelona have dominated this competition in the past few years, reaching the last four finals, one of the two sides to have achieved the feat.
They reached a first final in 2019, losing out to Lyon, before finally laying their hands on the much-coveted trophy in 2021.
Barcelona secured additional wins in 2023 and 2024 and most recently reached the 2025 final, where they missed out to Arsenal.
2. Eintracht Frankfurt (4 UWCL titles):

Frankfurt are the most successful German club in UEFA Women’s Champions League history with four titles.
They were also the first-ever winners of the competition, defeating Swedish side Umea 2-0 in the 2002 final.
The German side also won three more titles in 2006, 2008 and 2015, while they also reached the finals in 2004 and 2012, but suffered heartbreaks.
1. Olympique Lyon (1 UWCL titles):

Olympique Lyon are the ‘Real Madrid’ of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, having asserted their dominance on the competition.
The French side are the most successful side in the competition’s history with eight wins and they have reached the finals on the most occasions (11).
They are also the only side to have won the competition for five straight years, winning it from 2016 till 2020.
