The former UEFA Champions League winners have signed the 26-year-old on an initial loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to purchase on a permanent move for €8 million in the summer.

The former Kauno Zalgiris forward joined Nice from Lorient in 2023 and made an instant impact in his first season in charge, before suffering an ACL injury that ruled him out for a long while.

This season, he has played 15 games in all competitions and has only scored three times as he continues his way back to full fitness.

Moffi’s future has been uncertain since he and some of his teammates were attacked by supporters of the French club last November following a 3-1 defeat to Lorient.

He was placed on sick leave by the club and has not played for them since the incident. The Nigerian forward will now travel to Portugal today for his medical examination and will attend Porto’s Europa League clash against Scottish side Rangers.

The Dragons had been in the market for attacking reinforcements following an ACL injury to Dutch forward Luuk De Jong.

The move is also an opportunity for Moffi to reunite with his former manager at Nice, Francesco Farioli, under whom he enjoyed his most prolific campaign since moving to France.

Moffi set for Porto switch

Terem Moffi moved to France in 2020 initially to join Lorient, before moving to Nice three years later.

Despite his initial promise at the club, things turned sour over the past few months especially after the public assault by the club supporters.

The move to Portugal offers him a clean slate and an opportunity to rediscover his goalscoring form, while he also reunites with his former manager at Nice.

Porto beat competition from the likes of Besiktas and Auxerre to sign Moffi, who could make his debut next Monday against Casa Pia in the Portuguese league.
