Former Luton Town manager Edwards returned to the club earlier this month when he was appointed as a replacement for Vitor Pereira.

The club had dismissed the Portuguese despite only recently extending his contract, following a winless start to their 2025-26 EPL campaign.

Edwards took charge of his first game back at the club last weekend, although they were defeated 2-0 by Crystal Palace.

The team showed grit and improvement in the first half and created several goalscoring chances that had been lacking in previous matches this season.

However, goals from Daniel Munoz and Yeremy Pino condemned them to a 10th league defeat this season, as they remain rooted to the bottom of the standings with only two points.

Arokodare optimistic on survival chances

Wolves have only picked up two points from their first 12 league matches this season and are already languishing in the relegation zone.

They are currently eight points behind 19th-placed Burnley and must begin to improve to avoid dropping to the lower division at the end of the season.

The club has also scored the least number of goals in the EPL this season (7) and have conceded the most (27).

Speaking in an interview, Tolu Arokodare who joined the club in the summer from Belgian side Genk, believes the arrival of the new coach will help turn results around.

“I don’t think he would have taken the job unless he thought he could help us, want to win and change how the results have been.

“I think he took the job to bring positive change here. We all want that – me, Rob, all the players and the fans. Hopefully we will get there”, Arokodare admitted.

“It’s been pretty good. I cannot say too much because I also have respect for the previous manager as it was a tough period for him. It’s not going to be easy for Rob because we’re in a very difficult period. He has handled it pretty good. He has brought a lot of positivity, which we saw in this game.

“I believe there will be changes and I hope those changes come as soon as possible. The changes are in the playing style and tactics and in how he wants us to work”, he continued.

On Wolves chances of survival

“I’m not going to say it could turn but I’m saying it will get better. It’s a long season, 12 games have gone, we haven’t get the results we wanted but we can’t hold onto that”, the Nigerian forward continued.

“We have to focus on the next ones. There is the belief – we cannot lose hope now, we cannot doubt ourselves. We have to stick together, stay focused and confident and go into every game and try to win it.”

Wolves return to league action next weekend with a trip to face Aston Villa.
