The UEFA Champions League is the biggest European club competition in the world and only a few teams have managed to win the tournament multiple times. French side PSG are the defending champions, following their 5-0 win over Inter Milan in May.
Spanish side Real Madrid dominated the early years of the competition and have won the tournament a record number of times, but are closely followed by a chasing pack of clubs who are looking to catch up.
Are Los Blancos the only Spanish club on this star-studded list and does any English team feature in the top five? Stay tuned as SportPremi reveals the five clubs that have won the tournament the most times;
Barcelona (Five UCL wins):

Real Madrid are not the only Spanish side in the top five clubs with the most UCL wins as Barcelona’s ranking corresponds exactly to their five titles. Despite boasting multiple league and cup titles in the 1900s, the Catalan giants were unable to convert their league dominance to the European stage.
However, an elusive UCL trophy arrived in the 1991/92 season. A second came in 2005/06, before one of the greatest sides in history, coached by Pep Guardiola, won two in three years between 2009 and 2011.
Bayern Munich (Six UCL wins):

Bayern’s dominance in the Bundesliga is so great, the league could almost be called the ‘Bayernliga’, but they are not the team with the most UCL win. They however appear in the top five with six wins, winning three in a row between 1974 and 1976.
A fourth title arrived in 2000/01, before they won a fifth title as part of a historic treble-winning campaign in 2012/13. They won the treble again in 2019/20 season, with a sixth UCL title in the same campaign.
Liverpool (Six UCL wins):

The only British team on this list, Liverpool have won the UEFA Champions League three times in their history, three more than their closest challengers Manchester United.
The Reds won two consecutive titles in 1976/77 and 1977/78, with their sixth title win coming in the 2018/19 season, when they defeated league rivals Tottenham Hotspur 1-0.
AC Milan (Seven UCL wins):

AC Milan, once dominant forces in Europe, have fallen far from the heights they reached in the early years of the competition. The Rossoneri won a first title in 1962/63, while their seventh triumph was in the 2006/07 season.
Real Madrid (15 UCL wins):

‘Lonely at the top’, Real Madrid have won the UEFA Champions League more than twice their closest challengers. Los Blancos are the side with the most titles in history and are the only side to have won five consecutive titles.
They won the first five editions of the competition, starting from 1966/56 till the 1959/60 season. They secured the ‘La Decima’, a 10th trophy in the 2013/14 season, before winning an unprecedented 15th title in the 2023/24 campaign.
