Werder Bremen manager Horst Steffen is impressed with the impact made by Victor Boniface at the club, despite the short time the striker has spent at the club.
The Nigerian striker joined the club on summer transfer deadline day, on loan from league rivals Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
The 24-year-old looked certain to join AC Milan in the Italian Serie A, but the move collapsed after he failed medical at the club.
However, he has moved past the failed transfer and has eased to life at his new club, earning praises from coach and teammates.
Boniface made his debut for Bremen in the 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this month, and recorded an assist few minutes after coming on as a second half substitute.
Speaking ahead of the club’s Bundesliga clash against defending champions Bayern Munich on Friday night, Steffen gave his honest assessment on the Super Eagles star.
“I’ve come to know him as a very likeable person; he’s very personable, approachable, and dedicated to the team”, Horst Steffen said about Victor Boniface.
“We laugh a lot together; I think it’s nice when a player has such a sense of humor and shows such joy.
“He’s fit right into our group. I don’t know what others say or how it was elsewhere,” Steffen said.
Boniface eyes impact at Bremen
The Nigerian striker is not new to making impact in the German Bundesliga, following his impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen in their 2023/24 Bundesliga winning campaign.
However, his career has been hampered by injuries, which has limited his performances on the pitch.
A move to Bremen offers him a chance to reset and he will also be eager to make an instant impact at the club, with one eye on making Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 African Cup of Nations later this year.
