Wolves had suffered a defeat to Manchester City by the same scoreline in their previous match and needed a positive result to keep their slim hopes of survival alive.

However, they were made to rue their missed chances by a very clinical Bournemouth side, who scored a goal in each half to seal the win.

Eli Junior Kroupi continued his impressive form with the opener, before Alex Scott added a second goal in stoppage-time to complete the win.

Nigerian forward Arokodare was guilty of missing several chances in the clash, including an effort in the 64th minute when he shot straight at Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, when he should have scored with the scores at 1-0.

They remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings with just eight points so far this season and are looking unlikely to beat the drop.

Rob Edwards reacts to Wolves defeat

Speaking after the match, Edwards acknowledged some improvement in the play, but urged his side to convert their chances in coming matches if they are to start getting positive results.

“We’re in a results business, so I feel really flat now because I felt we should have taken something from the game. I think everyone could see that. I know at the end there’ll be people that will be angry and disappointed because we’ve lost again”, he revealed.

“But in the cold light of day, when I look at it back, it was a good performance. I thought we started the game really, really well. For the first 20 minutes, I thought we were excellent, really good.

“But then I thought we made a few errors that played into their hands, we gave the ball away in some loose areas and the goal was obviously a real highlight for them and playing the game that they wan”, Edwards added.

“The reaction at halftime was excellent. I felt like I was just looking at that goal for the vast majority of the half and we created a lot of big chances. But we’ve got to be ruthless. We’ve got to take them and then we’d be talking about a very different game.

“Goals change games, and that’s what it’s about. We will continue to try and work really, really hard on how we can create more opportunities and better opportunities. But today we did that.

“Bournemouth are a good team and have just come off the back of a win against Liverpool, and today I felt we looked like the better team. But the result, the score line, is the be all and end all, and they’ve come out with the three points”, he concluded.

Wolves return to action next weekend when they face an in-form Chelsea side, hoping to end their losing run with a favorable outcome.
