Wolves manager Rob Edwards admitted his disappointment with his team’s display and called for improvement following their 2-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday, SportPremi reports.

The English Premier League bottom side suffered another defeat in front of their home fans as they remained winless this season and in danger of suffering relegation to the second division.

Keane Lewis-Potter scored twice in the second half to give his side maximum points in the keenly contested encounter.

The West Midlands club have only gathered two points from 17 matches, the worst ever tally at this stage of the league in history and suffered a 10th consecutive defeat in the league and 11 in all competitions.

Arokodare starts on bench as Wolves lose again

Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare had scored Wolves’ only goal in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in their last outing, but started the clash on Saturday on the bench.

It was a dull encounter in the first half as both sides struggled to create meaningful chances until late in the half, although great goalkeeping by both sides kept the scoreline level.

The Bees turned up the heat in the second half and Jose Sa twice denied Kevin Schade with brilliant saves.

However, Brentford took the lead when Wolves defender Ladislav Krejci misjudged a ball, allowing Keane Lewis-Potter to slot in past Sa for a 1-0 advantage.

Lewis-Potter grabbed his and the Bees’ second of the game moments with a volley, to send his side on the way to victory.

Wolves had a way back in the game when they were awarded a penalty, but Caoimhin Kelleher made up for his error by saving Jorgen Strand Larsen’s poor effort.

Edwards rues defeat to Brentford

Rob Edwards has now suffered defeats in all six of his matches at the dugout since replacing Vitor Pereira at Wolves.

Speaking after the recent defeat to Brentford, the former Luton Town manager called for the need to improve as soon as possible.

“The [first] goal came from a position where we should never, ever concede from. We’ve gifted that, we’ve almost self-imploded in that moment, some really poor defending, and then from there, obviously, one-nil down is very, very difficult, again, because it just creates all the noise around and the boys feel that pressure”, Edwards admitted.

“I don’t know, it’s just like we can’t, at the moment, we can’t do it for a prolonged period of time. I don’t know, we’ll have to look back, but it seems like there’s always that one big mistake that’s around the corner at the moment.”

Wolves face a tough test in their next clash as they hope to end their winless run when they travel to the Anfield to face Liverpool.
