English Premier League giants Manchester United are planning to sign Dayot Upamecano for free when his contract at Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season, SportPremi reports.
The Red Devils are still looking to strengthen across different areas of the pitch as the team takes shape under manager Ruben Amorim.

A major problem for them has been the defence, as they have looked shaky at the back on many occasions.
Unfortunately for them, they do not have the big bags like in previous years to prosecute new signings. As such, they are looking at other avenues.
In a fresh report, per Transfer News Live, Manchester United are keeping tabs on Upamecano and could make a move for him by next summer.
The €50 million-rated center-back is expected to run out of contract by next summer, except he signs an extension before the end of the season. As such, the Red Devils are looking to capitalize.
Can Dayot Upamecano Help Manchester United?
Dayot Upamecano is a decent defender, but he might not necessarily give Manchester United anything different from what they have with De Ligt or Leny Yoro.

However, getting a player of his experience and quality for free would be great business for Manchester United, considering their current financial position.
Moreover, Harry Maguire is edging closer to the twilight of his career and will soon move on. Upamecano is just 26 years of age, so he will definitely give them five competitive years at least.
