Own Goal Before Halftime

Nantes were stunned at the end of the first half when Awaziem accidentally deflected the ball into his own net in the 45+1 minute. The goal stood after a VAR review, leaving the Canaries trailing at the break.

A Strong Response in the Second Half

Rather than letting the mistake break him, Awaziem took control of the game. He became central to Nantes’ possession and buildup, showing composure and calm under pressure.

He finished the match with 92 completed passes, the highest of any player, and delivered 93% pass accuracy, the best among those who played 45 minutes or more. His defensive presence also helped steady Nantes as they pushed for a late equalizer.

90+1 Redemption for Nantes

Deep into added time, Nantes sent bodies forward in search of a goal. Awaziem rose above everyone in the 90+1 minute, directing a powerful header into the bottom corner to make it 1–1. It was a rare moment in football scoring at both ends in one match, and ensured his team claimed a crucial point.

Nantes’ Situation

The draw keeps Nantes in 15th place, extending their unbeaten run to two matches. Awaziem, who has started every Ligue 1 game this season, remains one of the team’s most important voices at the back as they continue their push away from the relegation zone.

Nantes travel to face Lyon on November 30 at Groupama Stadium.

Lorient will host Nice on the same day as they continue searching for their first win in seven games.
