The Lions face-off against the Yellow Canaries in a top of the table clash in the Turkish Super League on Monday, hoping to increase their one point advantage at the top.

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has missed the club’s last two matches due to an injury picked up while on international duty.

The former Napoli striker was substituted at halftime in Nigeria’s penalty shootout defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the CAF playoff final, a result that ended their hopes of playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Further tests carried out on his return to Turkey had ruled him out of the next few matches, although it was previously unknown if he would be fit for the clash against Fenerbahce.

Galatasaray missed the presence of the 26-year-old in both matches, most especially in the midweek defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise in the UEFA Champions League.

The club suffered a 1-0 defeat in the absence of their talisman, who had netted six times in the competition this season.

Ozbek confirms Osimhen’s availability

Dursun Ozbek, during an interview, provided the latest updates on the availability of the Nigerian forward.

“Our players who returned from injury will be in the squad in the Fenerbahçe derby. Osimhen should be in the squad on Monday, I guess he will. Because that was the target of the conversations we have had so far. Our other players returning from injury will most likely be in our squad. We will go to the field with a very good team”, the 76-year-old revealed.

On the club’s recent displays

“There are some reasons for the results we have received in recent days. Like the injuries, I said referee, I said about the bet. Therefore, Galatasaray has the power to come over them.

Our fans should not worry at all. Galatasaray will give its highest performance on the field in the derby. Our players who returned from injury will also be in the squad. I wish you a good match and I wish Galatasaray to be the smiling side. It’s an important derby, I invite everyone to watch it”, he continued.

Galatasaray eyes victory in crucial Fenerbahce clash

Galatasaray head into the clash against Fenerbahce after just one win in their last three league matches.

Their big lead at the top of the standings has also been reduced to a single point, as they chase a fourth consecutive league trophy.

The champions have also won three of the last six meetings between both sides in all competitions, suffering a single defeat and will be favorites to clinch another victory especially with the return of Victor Osimhen.
