Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named a 54-man preliminary squad for the African Cup of Nations in Morocco later this month, SportPremi reports.

The list released on Tuesday afternoon, will be reduced to a final 28-man squad ahead of the December 11 deadline set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for teams to name their final squad.

There are notable returns for the likes of goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, who has been in superb form for Omonia Nicosia this season and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru who has missed the previous matches with injury.

In-form Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu also earns a recall to the team after his strong start to the season, while Taiwo Awoniyi, Victor Boniface and Cyriel Dessers also feature in the list.

England-born defender Ryan Alebiosu also earns a first call-up as a replacement for the injured Benjamin Fredrick, who was ruled out of the tournament after suffering a knee injury for Belgian side Dender.

The Super Eagles will begin their training camp in Egypt on the 10th of this month with all players expected to join up with the entire team in Cairo.
