Wolves headed into the clash on the back of a 2-2 draw against league leaders Arsenal in midweek, overturning a two-goal deficit in that encounter.

Crystal Palace meanwhile were held to a 1-1 draw at Zrinjski Mostar in the Conference League playoff last Thursday, a game in which they were booed off by their own supporters.

Crystal Palace upped the tempo in the second half and had an attempt on goal saved by Jose Sa in the Wolves goal, before the visitors were reduced to 10 when Krejci was sent off for a second booking three minutes after his first, for kicking the ball away.

The game looked destined to be heading for a goalless draw until Guessand opened his account for the club with a superb finish in the 90th minute.

Crystal Palace, who left Christantus Uche on the bench throughout, sealed the hard-fought win to ease pressure and move up to 13th on the standings, while Wolves looked destined for the drop as they remain on 10 points after 28 matches.

What next?

Crystal Palace return to action on Thursday in the second leg of their Conference League playoff against Zrinjski, hoping for a win to qualify for the Round of 16.
