The Turkish champions booked their spot in the next round of the European elite club competition on Wednesday night after a dramatic 7-5 aggregate win over Juventus.

Galatasaray won the first leg 5-2 last week, but allowed a three-goal lead slip away as Juventus raced into a 3-0 win after 90 minutes in Turin to send the match into extra-time.

However, Osimhen pulled one back for the Lions, before Baris Yilmaz added a late second as the Turkish side lost 3-2 on the night, but advanced on aggregate.

Meanwhile, they will now fave either Tottenham Hotspur or Liverpool in the next stage, hoping for victory to continue their unlikely way to the final.

What Osimhen said about meeting Liverpool in Round of 16 clash

Speaking after Galatasaray secured their place in the Round of 16, Osimhen revealed that he would prefer a clash against Tottenham Hotspur than Liverpool.

Galatasaray have already faced the Premier League champions during the league-phase, claiming a narrow 1-0 win courtesy of a penalty kick by Osimhen.

“I mean to be honest with you, meeting Liverpool now is going to be like some sort of revenge”, Osimhen revealed.

“Anyone we meet now… I wouldn’t say much but I would like to escape Liverpool. But if they come, yeah, we’re going to dig it out but it’s not going to be easy.

“I mean this is Champions League, no team is easy, we can see how flying Bodo/Glimt are really doing in this tournament”, he added.

“If you want to win you also have to play the big dogs and make a statement for yourself. We’ve met Liverpool but we haven’t played at Anfield. If we meet them it’s going to be an amazing game. I think we’re up to the task, it’s not going to be easy, of course, but we have fight in us.”

The draws for the Round of 16 of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League will take place on Friday, as clubs find out their opponents as the tournament continues it course.
