Super Eagles camp updates – Bassey pulls out with injury, 22 players in camp for Iran, Jordan friendly matches

The Super Eagles have arrived in Antalya, Turkey for their upcoming international friendly matches against Iran and Jordan as part of a mini four-nation invitational tournament.

The 2025 African Cup of Nations bronze medalists will face Iran on Friday, March 27, before playing Jordan on Tuesday, March 31 to round off their participation in the tournament.

Head coach Eric Chelle had invited a 23-man squad to represent the Super Eagles and while 21 arrived in Turkey earlier in the day, captain Wilfried Ndidi has now joined the rest of the squad.

Meanwhile, Nigeria were dealt a huge blow as Fulham defender Calvin Bassey had to pull out of the squad due to a back injury.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury during the Cottagers’ 3-1 win over Burnley in the Premier League last weekend, despite playing the full 90 minutes in the encounter.

Chelle has opted against naming a replacement, leaving just 22 players left in the camp.

The Super Eagles are expected to hold their first training session later today, as they continue preparation for the clash against Iran on Friday.

What time is Nigeria vs Iran?

Nigeria and Iran will face-off in their opening match on Friday, with kickoff slated for 2:00 PM.
